I applied for my mom and I plan on sending the application this Monday. I hope that we get asked to be interviewed. I'm in my second year of college at NYU and it is hard sharing a room with my mom and to have to commute 2 hours daily. I hope to be considered for a two bedroom and the West 45 apartments are not as far away as my current apartment. What are the chances of this? I have applied to over 5 of these apartment lotteries and just realized that all of the scholarships that I have be awarded do not count as income even though it says that they should be listed.
2 years ago I found a lot of useful and helpful info on this website so I feel an obligation to share what I know. Long story short, I went thru one of these lotteries (very long and tedious), was disqualified, appealed, appeal was shot down. I felt in my heart that they were wrong and was ticked off that they were stringing me along for weeks and weeks. I filed a lawsuit, the city and the housing company settled in my favor before trial, literally the day before trial. I was shocked bc I didn't expect it. My situation had nothing to do with full time student status but since I was pro se, I spent HOURS, HOURS, in the supreme court library, in the court itself researching my case and how to properly represent myself.

The moral of this story is; don't let these people push you around. If you don't qualify and you know you don't qualify, you just have to accept it, but if you do, just don't give up hope because someone who works in the office said so. Learn the rules and how to defend yourself in the appeal process if you are rejected. In regards to taking it as far as I did and filing a lawsuit, that would be a personal decision that someone would have to make should that situation present itself.

My brother there are worse things to have than "bitch tits." Furthermore, I can tell you how to feel about it but what I can tell you is when I started taking off my shirt in public, I had to fake coincidence. People will look at them and ask about them, I told them "it a medical condition." You shouldn allow something a small as this to effect you life this much.

I feel your pain I was scared to take my shirt off, embarrassed and just all around depressed when I was younger. I came to the realization that there only three things I could do about this.
I have gyno and I had it since I was 14. It looks to me like you can cut down some more to hide it some more. Keep in mind I said hide it. I have that lovely fibrous disk between my chest muscle and nips as well. I also agree no amount of weight loss can directly or otherwise affect this. But having a more solid chest and a tight core will definitely take attention away from the tits.
People deal with all sortsa stuff. Stretchmarks. Loose skin. Scars. Amputations. Paralysis. Injuries. Arthritis. Varicose veins of the ugly sort not the swole sort. The older you get the more stuff you gonna have to deal with. "Just deal with it" is something millions of other human beings have done. I hope it helps brother.

Butlins in Minehead proves perfect for a family break whatever the weather

And very nice they look too if the artist's impressions are anything to go by.
So it was with some relief that, under threatening skies, we checked into Butlins at Minehead, Somerset, with our children Kate, 13, and Tom, 11, for a week packed with activities and entertainment to take our minds off the fickle British weather.
But these days it's pretty hard to beat for value for money.
Served buffet style, the food was tasty and plentiful. We never went hungry and after a waddle along the beach we would pop into the Quayside Tearooms for a delicious cream tea with home made scones which would have impressed Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood.
While most activities and the entertainment are free, there is a reasonable charge of 5 per person for extras such as go karting, archery, kayaking, arts and crafts and the climbing wall.
But for our two kids, the big draw was Butlins Splash Waterworld, which has four flumes, including one called the Black Hole (terrifying for an oldie like me!) and the Water Blaster (my favourite) where you get to sit in an inflatable dinghy.
When we could drag them out of the water, we dodged the rain to play table tennis or 10 pin bowling or pool in the Skylight Pavilion. When it wasn't pouring we tried a spot of crazy golf outside and went on a day trip to Exmoor National Park to see the ponies.
While our accommodation wasn't exactly the last word in luxury, it was very clean and comfortable. And with so much on offer, we hardly spent any time in it anyway.
"Awesome!" said Tom, the minute he saw the free funfair at the entrance to the resort, just across the road from Minehead's long, sandy bay which curves around towards the harbour. Beautiful, even without the sunshine.
While Butlin's has clung on to the ethos which made it a success when Billy opened his first holiday camp in Skegness on Lincolnshire's North Sea coast in 1936, it has, thankfully, changed with the times.
While these weren't exactly our cup of tea (we drew the line at a "celebration of the music of One Direction"), we were firmly in the minority judging by the enthusiastic reaction of our fellow holidaymakers.
For us, a real holiday means a break from cooking but without the hassle and expense of finding a restaurant that appeals to four people with varying tastes. So we opted for the pre paid premium dining package which gives you access to breakfast and dinner in either the Yacht Club more pub carvery than luxury liner or the Deck, a modern canteen that offers a more continental flavour with pasta and oriental dishes alongside grills and salads.
There was a cinema on site, and live evening shows on the Centre Stage included comedy acts and musical tributes to Jessie J, Freddie Mercury, Abba, Tom Jones, Robbie Williams and Olly Murs.
Not long after they zoomed off towards the horizon trailing red, white and blue flumes, it started raining again. Never mind. Plenty to do back at Butlin's.
The remnants of Hurricane Bertha swept across the Atlantic and washed away the last of the sizzling British summer heatwave the day before our "staycation" began. Typical.
Butlin's is by the beach, within walking distance of Minehead town centre. Taunton railway station is about 24 miles away with regular bus services.
Next spring, before its 80th anniversary, Butlins will be unveiling its "Chalet for the 21st Century" at Minehead in the shape of a new village of ultra modern lakeside accommodation with verandas and balconies.
For us the highlights were the Big Top Circus show (5 each), which was truly spectacular, and the 2 Minds Combined illusion show, which was a big hit with Tom. He loves magic tricks.
Our week coincided with the Minehead Festival and, as if on cue, the dark clouds cleared just in time for a spectacular aerial display over the beach by the Red Arrows which had a crowd of 5,000 clapping and cheering.
We stayed in a four bedroomed Gold apartment with no less than three showers. But there are five levels of accommodation to suit every budget, ranging from a basic "no frills" chalet to the very swish looking Blueskies apartments overlooking the sea front.
This was our first Butlins holiday and we really had no idea what to expect. Would I be strong armed into a knobbly knees competition by an army of smiling Redcoats whose job is to make sure everyone joins in the fun? We needn't have worried.

But good old fashioned family fun remains at its heart. A national institution in the austere post war years of the 1950s, Butlin's became a bit of a joke in the 1980s, lampooned by the popular sitcom Hi de Hi!
For your money you get a packed timetable with something to appeal to every age group from all singing, all dancing shows for tots to bingo for pensioners.
It would have been a disaster had we been on a traditional bucket and spade holiday.

Last year, voters here in California failed to pass a special fee that would have allowed us to keep the parks open. I suppose there just isn enough support for the parks, which is sad.

Most of the parks that are being closed are ones that get light traffic. However, it is a shame to have these parks sitting there, yet not open for people to be able to access them. It will just create heavier traffic at places like Yosemite and Crystal Cove . and the many other wonderful California parks.
I in Maine and many of the state parks are mixed use. Some are kept more pristine which is great, too, when you want to really see what nature is all about. But you need to have a mix or you end up with parks that aren being used enough.

I think Aunt Coffee makes some good points. But, as non dog person, I love the no dog rules! I seen too many irresponsible dog owners. Some great ones, too, though.
However, with so many parks, you think they could diversify. Have some that allow bikes and/or dogs and others that don so that whoever likes a particular kind, can have that option. Depending on the size of the park, you can have mixed trails.

At least in this case, they can close them for a while and they will still be there when things improve and/or private money can be raised to reopen them. Its been years since I been to California and only went to a few parks while we lived there all ones with shops, kind of touristy. However, here in Maine, there are some parks that don really have a staff and volunteers help keep the trails clear so it really doesn cost much to keep them open. There are no trash receptacles or outhouses, etc. But the trails are still there for people to use. Some have staff in the summer, but not the winter. Some of these are local parks rather than state parks, but I don see that has to matter.
I think some of the rules are meant to minimize harm to wildlife, but I bet some of those parks don have as much wildlife and would be good options for this.
California state budget is in crisis. There is another major vote this November regarding raising the sales tax in order to help balance the California budget. If it fails, many schools will have a shortened school year next year. The City of Los Angeles is in danger of bankruptcy. I find myself wondering where it will all end!Actually, as a California resident who likes to hike, I a bit cynical about it. The state park service has really done it to themselves, though they don seem to realize it. Over the past few decades the state has accumulated more and more parks, yet many of these get very little use, and to a considerable extent this is because of park regulations. It is illegal in California state parks to take your dog on a trail. You can have it in the parking and picnic table area, provided you show a license and rabies tag on arrival, but the moment you step foot on a trail you are liable to a whacking fine. Guess what? People who would love to go hiking with their dog go somewhere else with the dog, or they do something other than hiking. It is also illegal in most parks to ride a bicycle, even on fire roads. That means most bikers don come either. Depending on the park, it also illegal to do a host of other things play organized games, drink alcohol, skinny dip, walk on the grass away from the trails, etc. About the only thing that is allowed is walking on a trail with your hands in your pockets. In addition, there are no facilities of any kind, except drinking fountains and minimal restrooms and sometimes not even those. Plus, state parks are not accessible by public transit. It requires long drives and lots of gas, which many people cannot afford these days. So the truth is that most people really do not use the parks, and do not want to pay for them just to be used by the environmentalists. The Sierra Club et al want to keep all these parks open but they do not personally want to pay a penny, they want the taxpayer to pick up all the expenses.

I for one would like to see the whole state park system revised to make it more user friendly. I think that you should be able to bring your dog on hiking trails. And I think that the park service should encourage mixed uses, whether in terms of parties or allowing food trucks on weekends. And where parks are close to urban areas, they should be accessible by transit.
