AIA drops probation hammer on Deer Valley, banning all sports from postseason:
The Arizona Interscholastic <a href=http://bscindia.com/Servicess.html> nfl jersey wholesale</a> Association came down hard Monday on Glendale Deer Valley, placing the school on probation for the 2013-14 school year and thereby barring all of its athletic teams from the playoffs for one season.
The decision came during the AIA s monthly executive board meeting and was made in response to Deer Valley allowing two transfer students to play for the football team after their initial hardship appeals had been denied.
Bill Gahn, athletic director for the Deer Valley Unified School District, was in attendance for the ruling, along with Deer Valley Principal Barbara Dobbs, school Athletic Director John Allen and football coach Eric Bolus.
Juniors Marquette Mitchell and Brian Calhoun had transferred from Peoria Centennial and played in Deer Valley s season-opening loss to Surprise Shadow Ridge. Though they later won their hardship appeals, they were ineligible at the time of the game, a violation of an AIA bylaw.
Another investigation is under way to determine whether Mitchell and Calhoun were illegally recruited.
Dobbs explained that playing the two ineligible boys was an agonizing decision that was made with our hearts and not necessarily our minds.

Still, the AIA saw fit to take severe action. The importance and the integrity of the bylaws was at stake, Schmidt said. And when you re looking at it, it was a school decision. This was not a coach of a particular school. And I will argue there s a concern with regard to the institutional control and command of the bylaws. And with that (ruling), that message is now clear.
